What types of Gouramis get very large? I heard that you can purchase these at local pet shops, but I haven't seen any. I'm also looking to purchase one if anyone is selling.

thanks,
Monty

Thats exactly what I want to know. Thanks. I was also curious if anyone knows of where I can order a couple of these? Which one of these look the best? I know many people have golds, but I thought they only got 10" or so?

Try Tropical fish Distributors. He usually has all three types as babies. I believe he has a minimum buy though. Look on Aquabid from time to time also. They seem to be quite prevalent in Asian pet shops as well. Good luck and be prepared for a fast growing poo machine when you do get one.

Are they as bad to keep as the Pacu? I ended up taking my pacu to the petshop. I wouldn't use Tropical Fish Distributors. Their aquabid feedback is pretty bad. Thanks for the tip though.

Not as bad as Pacu , but close. The grow pretty damn fast and are very messy. That coupled with a sometimes bipolar personality makes it interesting. If you have the long term space and the where with all to figure out what works for your Gourami they are a joy to keep. People either love em' or hate em'. As for T.F.D., I've dealt with them on a number of occasions and never had a problem. I guess it's just a roll of the dice when buying online though. Take care.

Giant gouramis there or 5 or 6 species.... inc

Osphronemus gouramy - Standard also available in albino

Osphronemus Exodon - Elephant ear or vampire gourami

Osphronemus Lactivius (spelling) - Red fin giant gourami

Osphronemus septifasiatus (spelling) - The one that develops red spotting none around in captivity really.

Try petsolutions.com. They have RTGG's for 30 bucks. I am going to order one. They are the most attractive in my opinion.
