Well, about a week ago, I noticed a group of bubbles at the surface of my tank and hadn't really had time to clean it out, unaware of what it was (turned out to be a bubble nest). The next day when I woke up, the male blue gourami had really dark coloration. Fearing this was a disease break out, I started to panic and did some research and found out that it was actually breeding coloration.
I then witnessed my male blue gourami and my female opaline gourami "doing the deed" and produce eggs that then floated to the bubble nest.
About 2 days after that the eggs hatched into small fish larvae. The breeding was completely unexpected and I was unprepared to properly breed them so I do not have a separate tank for them so I do not have high expectations for the larvae but we will see how things work out.
Here are pictures of the breeding coloration, breeding "act", bubble nest, eggs, and fish larvae.
