Grammode or RTM

I know there's a thread like this already but it's not mine so I'm not going to post my question in it.

So here's the deal... I want a single cichlid tank with a pleco and some dithers. I know a RTM needs at least a 75 gallon but I have car payments and gas for a 12 mpg truck, plus I'm 17, so it would be hard to pay for a 75 gallon... But I could probably get a 55 from work for cheap. And I checked craigslist and can't find any good deals but I'll keep looking.

So here's the stocklist(s) I would like (respectivly)
55g:
Grammode x 3 (will pick out ONE male)
BN Pleco x 1
Tiger Barbs x 7-8 (or some other dither, suggestions?)

75g:
RTM x 3 (will pick out ONE male)
Pleco x 1 (No idea which kind would work)
Dither x ? (suggestions?)

So which one should I get?
 
Tuff choice i would go for the grammodoe if you can find one but if you don't wan't a slow growing fish then get the mota
 
you know everyone's gonna vote for the bigger tank!
 
I would go for the 75 for sure.I just bought one myself.I already had filters and a heater so the cost wasn't bad
 
You will be happier in the long run with a 75. In the future, if you want to get fish other than the ones you are talking about in this thread, a 75 will leave you with so many more options than a 55.

Make room for the 75, it's only 6" wider and like everyone said it gives more future options. A 55 is too limited if you like CA's.

Maintenance for a 75 vs a 55 doing a 50% water change is only ten more gallons to change out so you can't use the maintenance excuse lol.
 
neither get a 60 gallon.They usually sell for less than a 55 and have are 48 inches long and 15 inches wide.Here in socal you can get them with a stand ,top,and lights for $170
