Grammodes and Istlanum possibly hericthys???

i see many similarities in isltlanum and grammodes to many fish in the hericthys genus like pantostictus, steindachneri, and bartoni. heres a bunch of pics i found that show the resmblances very well. let me know what you think:) not my pictures

It seems like I've seen them labeled as herichthys before, but you're going to have to do a lot more than compare pictures to get them assigned back into a genus.
 
Superficial body shape similarities really don't tell you much. Here's what CRC says about the genus:


Diagnosis: Distribution in the Atlantic slope of North America from the Panuco basin in Mexico north to the Rio Grande basin in Texas. Bicuspid teeth, variously stout or slender, never differentiated in length in upper and lower jaw. Principal cusp is long. Color pattern of short vertical bars or black spots posteriorly from the middle of the side. Breeding color pattern with dorsal half or entire head and anterior flank turns pale greyish in contrast to the black or dark grey adjacent areas, or entire body turns pale. Kullander (1996).
