Grammodes x dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would crossing these 2 fish work ( to reduce size ) as I’d love to keep dovii but live in an apartment so 6-8 foot tank is out the question
Thanks

I've read that the Grammodes has the similar characteristics as the Dovii.

I’m sure that the potential for a hybrid is there but I’ve never heard of it. Grammodes are just like doviis in appearance, behavior is a bit off.
You can look at motaguenese or Freddies. Both are cousins to dovii, way more colorful, and only get about a foot.

I don't think you are going to get what you want. Likely this fish will split the difference on size which is still a large fish. You almost never get exactly what you are looking for in a hybrid. With hybrid vigor you may even see the hybrid grow faster. How small of a fish do you need?

I agree, with a dovii x grammodes, you are still looking at a 15+ inch fish, which will need a large tank.

The adult grammodes I’ve seen look like a steelhead trout, for coloring.
