have done a search for grammodes info but all i find is people wanting to stock tanks they already have such as a 55.
what are suitable dimensions for a single male grammodes with some pictus cats or a small group of bottom dwellers that dont get too big. was thinking a 3x2x2 (90 US gallon) or 4x2x2 (120 US gallong). it will be on a 2 tier stand under my 5x2x2 hence the 3x2x2 thought.
im asking again because the wife keeps torpedoing my plans for a single predator/angry fish and she says that the single large cichlid must have some catfish (no larger than 6") and dithers (again 6" or under).
sorry to be a pain guys but i cant think of anywhere else to look. google throws up too many differences in info and i dont know what to believe.
many thanks in advance :)

I think a single male would need at least a 75 gallon tank minimum in the long run. IME they grow very slow and it will tank a long time to reach max size. I recently found out how extremely aggressive can be. I had to take my female Grammy out of a 265 gallon CA/SA community tank. She's 4" and already has a mouth full of sharp teeth and was continuously shredding fins and taking scales off fish double and triple her size.

I had a 3 1/2 in grammode and a 6 in male dovii and the grammode still stood up to him and lip locked! he never backed down...makes me want another one real soon

was thinking a male Grammode with 6 pictus cats and some filament barbs for dithers. sound ok in a 4x2x2?

That sounds fine, as long as the grammode doesn't decide to kill the cats.

Cichlid2006,i noticed you were a fellow UK member, grammodes are great fish i have a young pair, they are really rare in the UK so if you want to know where to get them from, just ask.....

cheers mate but it will be a while because i have just under 2 years in the RAF left so it will be when i settle down after coming out the forces. im just gathering info at the moment to look at the possibility of a 2nd tank.
