There was a grammode(s?) at a LFS I went to for the first time today. I have a 75 gallon tank I am about to set up, and I am wondering if I could keep any other fish with it. How big do they get, and how fast do they grow? It was 5-6 inches and $30. Is that a cheap price? The guy there thought it was a wolf cichlid (dovii)

The had some pike cichlids as well, are they compatible?

Haven't tried pike cichlids with my Male Grammodes. With a 75 gallon you have a slight chance at tankmates, better than in a 55g. To note my Grammodes has killed or severly injured; F Convict, Rainbow Cichlid, Leporinus, M Firemouth, and a Rock Bass.

What it has not messed with surprisingly was a F Severum. So far he doesn't see either of my Banjo Catfish. But is very curious about my plecos.

Mine is slowly getting used to me again, was in a rubbermaid for a few months. But any sudden movements and he could dart away.

Lots of information on the board just do a search, thread titles with grammodes have the most info.

Those are all relatively peaceful cichlids you had with it...maybe you should try something a bit more tough?

How do they do with other aggressive cichlids?

you could keep others with it, they get to 12" for males and about 7-8" females.

fairly aggro could be kept with some other fairly aggro cichlids, i would say a pike would be ok.

if its a true grammodes, $30 is a bargain at that size.

I am positive it is a grammodes, due to the red spotted scales all over its sides. I wanted to put a Green Texas cichlid in this tank, is this possible?

i would have said so, yes i think a carpinte and grammodes should be ok together, u just gunna do these or put dithers??

SDs would probably be best, right? Danios might be a bit small.

S$' would probably be good, they can be fairly skittish IME which would not be good, this would just stir up the others, tin foils would possibly be better, say a group of 3?

Was trying a community most of them were established and full size. I got him when he was about an 1.5-2", he tolerated all fish bigger than him, convict was the worst to him. Grammodes was fine until about 4" then he started with the Rainbow then the Convict and so on.
