My gecko used to be fairly shy and would hide when I put my hand in the cage. Now it has gotten very tame and will actually bite me if I put my hand in there, thinking I'm dropping in some food. Anytime I come near the enclosure, he is stuck to the glass waiting for some food. Considering their agility and penchant for escape, I need a good method to keep him at bay while I clean the glass and do some rearranging weekly. Any ideas?

The best thing to probably do would be to remove the gecko all together from the cage while cleaning it. They are little escape artist and are a pain in the but to catch when loose. See if you can scare it into a small box or tuperware container.

days are the worst when they escape so id say go with VF's idea but to catch it i recommend using an aquarium net they work well

I was thinking of catching it an aquarium net, and enclosing it with one of the same size and taping it together. That way, it wouldn't be able to hurt itself, I could clean the cage without fear of escape, And it would be easy to release it to the bottom of the enclosure again.

While getting it out you could place the entire cage in the shower, plug the drain and spout, that way its kind of trapped,if it gets out.I wasnt sure if you still had it and was afraid to ask in case something bad happened to it.Glad its still good.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm not looking for a reptile shower!

when i had my gold dust and standings and had to clean, i picked them in in my hand with my thumb gently but firmly behind their heads and put them in small glade containers, their skin is sensitive, but if they aren't going crazy in your hand they will be fine.

catching it in a fish net does seem like a good idea if it goes wild..but if it's relatively calm there should'nt be any problem..

just take it out like mentioned already a net works great for you fish guys who are afraid to get bite by a little gecko lol j/k
I don't care about getting bit, I care about escape. The little bastard is poking his nose through the screen and tries to climb out every time I open the cage. It associates my hand with food.
