At the LFS where I work we have a granite knifefish. It is very shy and thin. It's shaped more ovular than pointed. Its not as pointed looking as a BGK. Its face is also more rounded in the front than pointed (like a GK). It doesn't appear to be closely related to the African Knife either.

It's like 20 dollars. I am wondering if anybody knows what this could be.

Sounds like a Centipede Knife (Steatogenys duidae)...? There are other possibilities, but it sounds like the same body shape as a Centipede. Pictures would help. ;) Otherwise if you would describe the color pattern, that would be great.
Centipede Knife pic below.

Not a centipede knife, we actually had some of those around the same time. I will try to get a picture of it, or I might just buy it.

i think i seen one of these at a lfs... they had it listed as an african knife, but its body structure and face were different...kinda like the Centipede Knife, but like a stone gray...it was like $10 i may go and buy it as it looked cool...
