grape wood?

would i be able to use grape wood in a fish tank or will it get all fuzzy looking in the tank?

cool, i will cut up the huge thing of grape wood that i hve and put it in my tank. :woot:

Do you mean that it is "fresh" grapewood, and not completely dried? Also, you must soak that dried wood for at least 2 weeks, so the sap wont stain your water, and tank. This should prevent the discoloration of your crystal clear water to amber color. But some fish like that color.
 
I agree with Vince, I cook any drift wood, etc at a simmer for an hour or so then soak it wieghted down in a bucket until it becomes waterlogged, daily water changes during that time period allow me to check for any leaching.
 
the grape wood is not fresh cut, it has been sand blasted and i have had it for about 5 months (with no idea on what to use it with) and i dont really mind the tainted look in the tank, but if it buggs me i will take it out and soak it for a long time.
