Grass and Chain Pickerel together?

Is it alright to keep a Grass and Chian together if they are similar sizes? I know grass and redfin can... don't know why Chains couldn't but thought I'd ask before I go out buying a Grass/Redfin to throw in with my Chain

Chains get big. They could eat a grass, in theory.

Not just theory, in reality. The chain will eat the grass.

Ok, so should have clarified... could they be housed together while still juveniles at almost identical sizes?
When the chain outgrew the grass it would be moved to a pond or larger tank

You are talking maybe a month. Chains grow much faster than grass.
