lol i did the same thing in my pond but not for filtration just for fun and see how well they grew. Interested to see if it actually soaks up some nitrates.

Scissors should work well ill test nitrates tonight and then again tommorrow night. But within a day or two the water did get noticeably less stained.

Thanks! Heres a side view of the tank. 50 plus guppies, 50 plus tadpoles, one ghost shrimp that just wont quit and a big ol opaline gourami. Plus snails of course20190430_174541.jpg

Grass has gone to seed but no water test today because i had to do a water change so i could clean up the hornwort needles. These tadpoles are sure messy though.20190501_180149.jpg
