grass pickeral

okay so i have an empty 35g tank that i would like to grow out a juvi grass pickeral in.....it would then be going up to a 55g for life...I need some info on them i have tried to look them up online many times but all the websites are about fishing for them

i need to know all the info u guys know about them

Awsome fish. Like thier room. I currently have an 8" speciemen in a 55 and I am hoping to get him a 75 soon. Very difficult to get eating prepared foods. I got mine onto pellets but it took a really long time and was very hard. Awsome fish overall though.

awesome fish! i really want to get one of these guys eventually! i think your idea should work out pretty good, just make sure you get that 55 pretty quickly as i'm sure he'd rather have the 55 then the 35. To get him on prepared foods, go from live minnows to dead minnows, to shrimp to frozen food to pellet......just in a progression like that.
 
oh, well i think then that a grass pickerel would be a good option. the jar should grow faster then the pickerel, so he should be out of there before the grass pickerel really needs to the 55 gallon tank, so it should all work out.

I only wish it is that easy my friend. They can tell when a minnow is dead and they won't eat them. Best bet is to get a dead one or I used shrimp and tie it very loosely to a piece of string and jig it until he strikes. Once he atleast strikes your in.

I am surprised no one use a powerhead to simulate a live prey...
 
that is a very good idea bloody. i think my mission next week is gunna be to get my leaf onto prepared foods. i'll try the string thing. i've already tried with a piece of broom straw and he didn't take it, so i'll try a dead minnow on a piece if fishing string.
