behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
hey all.. was yet again pondering my childhood desires of keeping a northern pike... when i came across grass pikes... but cant find to much info???
my main q's are as to there compatibility with other fish? and growth rates? i read they top out at 20" mark but how quick do they grow???

Anyone knows where to source one in the uk???

all I can find is that a Grass Pike is just another name for the Northern Pike I guess because Northerns are a kinda green color...

nah dude.. their different, Esox americanus sp, grass pikes are found in north america only and max out 20"ish there is also a subspecies of Esox americanus sp called redfins after their red fins...... there are also chain pikes: Esox niger sp. that max at around 24"... but i was more interested in what if any tankmates they work with and if anyone had seen any in the uk or new how i could source one???

LoL you are thinking of a Grass Pickerel not a Grass Pike, Grass Pike is just a Northern Pike...

And I really dont think you will find one in the UK, I think they would be illegal there...

pikes... pickerel.... aren't they same thing??? all Esox sp. variants... but thanks... il have to do some more research...

they are from the family but common names are what makes everything confusing.
