Gravel and Frontosa?

I have 0,9m to 1,9m gravel, do i have to change substrate? I would definetly prefere not changing substrate.
I'm talking Burundi Frontosas.

You don't have to have sand as your substrate with frontosa, it's just preferred because it will be more natural for them
