my brother has a 10 gallon FW tank with some tetras and guppies. his gravel or substrate he has now is form my old 8 gal planted tank.. just basic substrate and its kinda sandy.
anyhow he now hates it. so were looking to change it. here is my plan to successfully changing the gravel
1. get a bucket
2. add 50% (or whatever is necessary) of the tank water to the bucket
3. put all fish in the bucket
4. drain the tank water completely
5. empty out the gravel into garbage from tank fully.. then wash out (any strategies for this one???)
6. add new gravel
7. refill tank entirely with new water
8. slowly and properly acclimate the fish to the new water
9. put fish in the new tank
....... the media and stuff will remain the same
are there any things i should watch out for?
