Gravel Cleaning.

Hey MFK.

Is gravel cleaning required when ever i my weekly 20% water change?
normally ill just put a pump in and suck out 20%.

Varies by tank setup and stock
I'm heavlily stocked and heavily planted and don't gravel vac

I dont always gravel vac when I do water changes.... just do it every now and then or every other WC. Depends on your waste load.

I used to in my 35G sand substrate tank stocked with cichlids. However that was when I had a bucket/hose. I recently switched to a python and haven't figured out how to catch the sand that gets sucked up... so until then I'm lightly vacuuming, mostly just siphoning water.

Been about a month with no problems so far.

i always do. it gets all the gunk out and its no more work then just using the pipe.

Just use a gravel vac when doing water changes.

Ok i guess ill gravel vac a bucket and pump out the rest when i do water changes.

Once every 2 weeks should be sufficient for your tank
