I am upgrading from a 55 gallon with gravel to a 125 gallon with sand. To help cycle my tank quickly I want to put my old gravel in one of my canister filter trays. Does anyone think this will be a problem?

Should work fine. When I moved a couple months ago I had a new tank half filled with water and then brought over my canisters and sump with all the fish and half of that tanks water. Hooked it up filled it and put the fish in the new tank. No casualties. To the fish it was like being taken out and put back in during a 50% water change

Having the old gravel in the canister will go along way in getting the new tank cycled quickly.
