Gravel options for large Aquariums

Shopped around locally and biggest bag I could find is 20lbs and bag said I need 2 lbs per gallon. I have a 240g so thats 480lbs @ $17 per 20lbs! Checked local hardware and landscape stores and their stuff is extra dirty, too large, and the smaller stuff isnt being stocked again till spring. I mail order some from home depot but its too large, more like bags of rocks and I want to be able to vacume it.

I kind of wanted to stay away from sand. Tank will be mainly Vieja and other ca cichlids.

480 pounds, thats crazy. My 450g don't even have that much, estimate only a couple hundred pounds. Just add the gravel you have, if it looks like you need more you can always add more later on. Wow at 2 pounds per gallon, I should have 900# of gravel in my tank:WHOA:
