gravel or sand??

ok so if i get a ray do they need sand or can it be gravel will it stress them out more without sand??!

My rays hate gravel! I had them in a tank where 80% of the bottom was gravel and 20% sand. They almost never left the sand. They hoverd around the tank but on the gravel. Now they just have sand.

um no i dont think you want silica sand. try to find silica free sand.

oh my bad silica sand is probably not best for rays because apparently it is abrasive however it is safe for other aquarium fish

i would go sand because gravel can cut the bottom of the ray and stress it out and give it diseases=]

i agree...much easier...i had sand in the tank then took it out...bare bottom is the way to go...atleast at first...
