Hey,
If I changed my substrate to sand can that hurt my cycle?

Yes, but if you have enough bio in your filters and rocks, driftwood, flower pots, etc it wouldn't be anything that won't correct itself in a couple of days. As a precaution I usually change half the substrate then wait 2 weeks before changing the other side. When I upgrade tanks and don't want to use the existing substrate I'll set up with the new substrate and fill a couple of media bags with existing substrate and place them in the new tank for a couple of weeks.

Okay I think I will wait then because my tank only 2 1/2 months old.
I think in 2 months I will go for it because I have African cichlids.
