Gravel vac question

Hi all,
this may sound like i stupid question but i was just wondering.. I have a few cichlids that create a lot of waste but I also got a lot of driftwood in my tank. So when you guys vacuum the gravel do you actually take out the wood? Because I just took out some wood and there is a lot of waste under there...

I just move stuff around. No need to take it completely out of the tank.

not necessarily take it out, but move it to get under, yes.
