I'm in process of setting up a 125 gallon aquarium. Has anyone ever used the Vigoro pea gravel from Home Depot as a substitute for aquarium gravel? I'd have to wash it a lot, but the price is a big difference. I also thought it might look cool to mix in some of the Vigoro River Rock as well.

not a big gravel fan but i have used gravels before, anything non dyed & smooth should be ok long as you wash it good. you can use dyed but i for myself wouldn't... i use sand and like the looks of sand but only thing is its a PITA since every time i vac sand gets sucked out so i gotta rewash the sand that gets sucked out and throw em back in the tank other then that all gravey :)

I have used the pea gravel ,it looks ok . it might look even better combined with larger river rock.
