Hi,

I am going to need gravel for my new 75 gallon tank. But i don't know what color to choose. Whatever color will be defenitive as i am going to a 110 next year i will just add more gravel and now change all the gravel all over again.

From what i have read light blue, yellow, purple ect.. all those gravel should not belong in a tank right ? I think i have 22 lbs of fluorencent orange gravel sitting around outside. I would still miss 53 lbs of the same gravel. But i am usure about using this.

Aquaspace is not my forte but i would think black is more natural and adding some fake driftwood a big plasic amazon sword plant would be nice. A 3-d backgroud would be nice but i will way until i have my defenitive tank.

How about black sand? That always looks nice. Go to the local hardware or pool store and see what colors of pool filter sand that they have. It is really cheap and looks really nice. As for gravel, white, black, natural, or aragonite are the only kinds I would go with. It if is going to be brackish, salt, or Africans, then you can get aragonite or crush coral. Good luck and post pics.

For gravel, I use pea gravel that Home Depot carries. You can get a 50 pound bag for $3. It is a lot cheaper when you are doing something with larger tanks. The only downside is that you have to completely rinse it before you put it in.

My personal favorite is Estes' "Walnut" I get a few different kinds of black and mix in 1/3 to 1/5 walnut to great affect and I follow that with some tumbeled brown glass.

If you can't find enough Walnut make sure whatever else you buy doesn't have any white in it.
