Over the past month i have slowly introduced a shole of clowns ranging from3''to8'' in my 240g.At first there color is vibrant and after a few days they gray up so all of them are gray ,i have researched loach behaviour and i realize graying is normal but mine seam very dark. My water is good everything zero ph7.0 temp 82 all my clowns in my other tanks they are bright and playful am i missing something theirs 8 total in the 240g.

I started feeding a wide variety of foods, and that eliminated the problem.

my three clowns only turn that kinda colors when they are freaking out over food, or when the lights are on (the lights are a little bright, i need to fix that). My only guess would be that there is somebody (or something) in the tank that is pissing the little dudes off...which is hard to do, but is possible.

Another question is how much flow is in the tank?? Because clown loaches come from fast moving rivers, your clowns might be upset because there is no current for them to play in. you could try powerheads, adujusting the returns, or beefing up your pumps.

Well as far as food let me list clams ,bl worms ,carnivore pellets, banana, krill ,prawn algae wafers, zucchini, cucumber and the flow two fx5 one pro3 three power heads i don't think its flow .The light is very low it may be the tank mates that's probably it, big dats or a bicar when i first introduced them the wide bar got very curios about them i hope they brigten up, i have tons of hideouts for them.

Are the dats still in the tank w/them? Like you said it might have freaked them out.

if it was just the dat i would not be worried. like you said once the novelty wears off, Dats dont care what theyre with as long as theyre not being annoyed. do you have any drift wood in the tank?? it seems to me like clowns love the tannins that come off and the shelter that it gives them.

Yes i have tons of bog log i gust got some big slabs of slate and leaned them at the ends of my tank to create more shelter. I just traded for a huge female she is staying bright and the others seam more confident.
