I haven't had a chance to sit down with my kelbs and really look at them because this week has been pretty hectic for me, but today I was surprised to see nice changes in 3 out of 4 kelbs.

Sorry for the poor pix, the GF went out of town and took the camera with her so my cell phone is all I have.

You probably can't tell from the pix :( but 3 of my 4 are developing nice spangling around their "dark spots" (is there a better word for this?) With one guy, the top guy in last pic, developing some really nice rings!!! :headbang2 These were not there last week! :nilly: I have one ugly duckling, bottom guy in last pic, that still has bars vs. the spots like the other guys and his spangling is suckin'. Hopefully he's a late bloomer.

Am I getting excited for nothing?

You have a nice school growing. If you are not excited I am excited for you!

It's so weird how each fish can be so much different than the others even when they're from the same batch. I remember a member saying how watching your fish develop was the best part of keeping cichla and now I really feel like I know what he meant. I'll try and take better pix soon with a DSLR. I should probably clean the glass too...

looking good brah!

I actually did not pay much attention other than the COLOR until you mentioned about it.... yeah.. it's true.
I can see all 5 of my shark's pbass have their own distinct pattern. very very interesting... see them yourself.
pic 2 looks like orino
pic 3 all three bars are thin, elongated and extended from top to the bottom without much fading.
Again, they are from the same batch.

Nice Kelberis James! It'll be interesting to see how they grow and develop compared to the others from the same batch.

Thanks.
We'll see if all the differences are just "progression" of their development. If it's only the progression, then in the future we shouldn't get too excited about this kind of pattern variation. ie: when you are picking limited number of fish from a batch, will you take color over pattern or vice versa ??? you get my point.
