So i found a 250g acrylic tank today..my dad called the guy while i was at school. He said its got scratches on the front of it that could be buffed out..He did not know the dimensions he had to go to his store later to check it out.

My question is how much would it cost to buff it out to look "like" new and would it be difficult?

thanks

It's an easy DIY job, provided you have the tools and the patience, as it will take time. You'll need the Novus 123 compounds (about $25) and a direct drive heavy duty buffer (not random orbit). You may be able to rent one of these, otherwise they'll run you about $150+.

If scratches are deep, you'll need to wetsand them first with some 1500 grit sandpaper, then work your way up with the compounds. Like I said, it's easy, but it does take some elbow grease.

im not worried about the time and effort...Im capable of that;P...Im just worried that ill be loosing the good deal by spending money on buffer supplies

Anybody in nj got the supplies thats willing to let me borrow them?

Yeah that's the thing. Luckily I have a friend that has one, I just borrows his when I need it :) I know some Home Depot stores used to have a tool rental section, you should look into that. Or even other hardware stores that rent tools.

ok thanks man...I need to figure out the dimensions of the tank..Im praying its a 30" wide and under 30" tall
