I'm reading this book now, and I love it! It also doesn't hurt that he started his journey in my home state of PA!

Your Inner Fish: A journey into the 3.5-Billion-Year History of the Human Body

by Neil Shubin
Why do we look the way we do? What does the human hand have in common with the wing of a fly? Are breasts, sweat glands, and scales connected in some way? To better understand the inner workings of our bodies and to trace the origins of many of today's most common diseases, we have to turn to unexpected sources: worms, flies, and even fish.

In Your Inner Fish, Neil Shubin tells the story of evolution by tracing the organs of the human body back millions of years, long before the first creatures walked the earth. By examining fossils and DNA, Shubin shows us that our hands actually resemble fish fins, our head is organized like that of a long-extinct jawless fish, and major parts of our genome look and function like those of worms and bacteria.

That's next on my fish read. Just gotta buy the book.

What do you think of the RM book?

i love it because he goes alot more in depth on his past trips and what got him into it. you get alot of behind the scene stuff that you don't get on the show. the first chapter alone when he's talking about seeing a fish that everyone swore didn't exist and then years later he manages to snap a shot of it to prove his sanity had me hooked. he just caught a glimpse of the back of it, had a ridged bumpy back and was grey and pink.

first chapter. they don't show the pic he caught of the fish back though
