great. fx5 just stopped working

so Im sitting in my office, working, and my FX5 just crapped out. I tried unplugging and replugging. No luck

I bought it just over 2 months ago, sep 23. Now I've gotta take it back and pray that they will let me return it even though its a few days after the 60 day return policy.

Did you check the receptacle? If power is good check the impeller, make sure it still spins and is seated properly.

unscrew and take out the impeller and clean it and try again. These are very reliable filters, and I doubt you need to return it.

Hello; With impeller filters I have had snails make their way in and jam the impeller as well as gravel and other stuff. You may have to remove the filter and hold it upside down to wash the debris from the small impeller chamber. I also keep a bubbler going in all tanks which will keep things going for a few days. There are (or at least use to be) air powered hang on back filters with replaceable filter media. I keep some survivors on hand for use in cases such as yours.

actually, that worked! i took it all apart, put it back together and now she runs perfect. it wasnt clogged or have snad in it or anything though. it was weird. its just like the impeller needed some fresh air lol

The first week I got my two fx5's they both stopped working after the first time I unplugged them. I took the impellers out and cleaned them (although they were not dirty at all). It worked, and they have worked flawlessly ever since.

I'm glad you got it working.
