so i am deciding to make some type of cave for my 7 inch rtc to go under to get away from my pbass from time to time. my tank is 15 inches wide and i want it to go across the whole lengh. what type of rock should i use for my giant cave idea?

I suggest buying the largest diameter piping that you can get (within reason), some aquarium/river rocks and siliconing them to the pipe. I did this with smaller rocks and it looks good in my hex.
or cut a bucket up the guts, then do as suggested above, with the silicon and rocks. usually i have a million buckets around the place from buying, salts or conditioners for my tank so im assuming everyone else does too
