I went to a LFS I dont usually frequent yesterday and stumbled upon this great pond idea. The owner said he built it himself out of cement, fiberglass, and a few pieces of glass in a channel. HMMMMMMMM........ Its kinda the best of both worlds, I like it.

Anyone build anything similar ???? What would the costs be ??? How easy is the glass window to build / attach ???? Can a glass window be used with a liner pond ???

Thanks much.......

that thing would be sweet to have . you should just become friends with the owner of the lfs that built it and get all the info about it , go buy all the stuff and then invite him over one day and ask him to build one for you to . lol

Looks very similar to one of the setups at the mississippi river museum up here. Its pretty much the same concept, tho I couldn't tell you how they made it.

Thanks for the pix Bgonz, Bet your gonna start going there more! :D

Anyone build anything similar ?

Yes, a few years back for a client. Lost it in a hurricane .

What would the costs be ? $1500.

How easy is the glass window to build / attach ?

In this situation, surprisingly easy. Get the glass back-bevel cut where the two pieces meet, have a top and bottom channel welded up, secure the channel to the concrete wall (bottom and sides), set the glass in set top channel on and silicone in place.

Can a glass window be used with a liner pond ?

Yes install it like a porthole is done.

Ok, now get started!!! :D

As simple as this store owner made this sound, you still have to be quite knowledged in working with and sealing water-vessels,of any shape. The side viewing feature is nice.I'd say undertaking a project like this would be no different than building a traditional pond,in terms of ease.
