Today was one of the best mornings yet for both walleye and perch. Caught 4 walleye 30'' 21'' 23'' and 25'' and also caught 27 nice size perch all were between 9'' and 13 1/2''. All were caught right before a big rain storm so I was only out for maybe 3 hours at the most! Here are some pics of the biggest walleye I caught today many of the perch would be an easy meal for this monster!

Actually, if you are familiar with the area I was in the 1st trench 63 fow or just on the southern edge of the 1st trench, a little east of beach 2 off of presquile.
Yes I have caught the blue morph not very often. I remember when I was a kid we were catching some small "blue walleye" all 16'' off the peninsula along with regluar yellow walleye. We let them go just in case they might have been blue pike. It was really the last time I remember catching some "blue walleye." The last and only commercial fisherman in erie has clamed to have caught real blue pike in the late 80's and early 90's well after they were considered extinct, and there was an artical in the paper that there was a real one caught in 1995 in dunkirk harbor, ny. I found the artical on google, but you need to be a member to see it.

Just measuured the girth a little bit ago on the 30'' walleye it was 17+ right around 17 1/2inches.

That is the tubbiest walleye I have seen!

Now that skull is worth preserving!
I have preserved some skulls before on a a few that were between 28 1/2 and 30. They turn out alright, but I already have 2 trophy walleye mounted on my wall. One is a 32 1/2 13 pounder and the other is a 30 1/4 I caught when I was 9 years old in a fishing tournament. I think I may still have some skulls in the basement, I'm not sure. I made them a while ago. Put a stick in the month, I let them soak in saltwater for a week then dry inside a metal mesh for a month so flys wouldnt get at it, and used shalak to top it off. I remember how to do it lol. They don't turn out too bad.
We noramally catch a few every summer that are right around 29-30 very seldom any bigger than that.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. Do you have any pics of your finished specimens?
