I'm not sure if anyone has ever heard of Craigs list before, but its a collection of stuff from almost every big city. Just try <yourcityname>.craigslist.org, for instance mine is denver.craigslist.org, then in the search box, type Aquarium, or Fish Tank, and your bound to find TONS, most people are selling because they are moving, have to pay bills, etc. Check it out, I was kicking myself today when i found out that there were several 55 gallon tanks on there for 100 bucks when i payed 200 for my 20 gallon starter kit.
