I'm thinking of setting up a paludarium. I've been reading stuff on various dendro sites and it seems a lot of people make backgrounds for their terrariums using Great Stuff (expanding foam) coated in coco fiber. I'm thinking of doing that for the land part of the paludarium, but would something similar work for the submerged parts? GS covered in soil, sand or gravel?

Yes, after it's cured... with the provision that you don't have digger (turtles) or suckers (plecos) for example. Keeping it down is another story. :D

i used it for a backround in my cichlid tank to make a series of caves. first i applied it to my gutter gaves then sanded it carved it to look like rocks and covered it in drylok. it has been 3 months now and i have no problems. i also have a chinese algae eater who has been sucking on it and has no ill effects to the fish or backround. the drylok is available at home depot and i used charchoal concrete tint to make it darker. pm me with any questions
