Anyone use this stuff in large amounts in aquariums? (I.E. 3D backgrounds, waterproofing, etc.) I'm looking to use it in a small wood/acrylic tank. It will basically replace any waterproofing since the foam will cover all the wood, up to the joint with the acrylic (so no wood will be exposed to water). I'm just wondering how well it holds up to prolonged exposure.

I'm a little skeptical, but I wanted some input from those who have used it. I suppose if no one has used it in this sort of capacity, I'll be a pioneer ;D

I've used it to fasten my 3d background to the glass instead of silicon. It's been about a year and it's still as hard as when I first put it in.
I have not tried to waterproof anything with it.

Hey Josh, consider this one pioneered ;) I have used it on glass, acrylic, to install 3D backgrounds (have an background install thread using it in the setup section right now) to hold wood down/together and am currently testing it to cover clay pots and make them less ugly lol.. I LOVE this stuff. I used 6 cans of pond foam in my 300 gallon acrylic and it was a waste of money. It doesn't stick well to acrylic long term if the object floats or pulls away from it. Glass it sticks awesome though. Here is a couple links for you, good luck post lots of pics!

Thanks for the reply. Knowing that it's maintained itself for that long is a good indicator of it's resilience.

I can't see it being safe for use with more aggressive fish or anything clawed like a turtle... I'm sure it would be destroyed in no time. But the more I think about it the more I like the idea. I'll probably build a trial box and coat it to see if waterproofing on a small scale is even a viable option.

Oops, you popped in there before I could reply!

Thanks for the info. Again, it's good to have some input on how this stuff actually stands up to prolonged exposure. It's also going to save me a bit of hassle to know that this won't properly adhere to acrylic. Guess I'll be going glass ;D
