I had a 3' greater siren years ago in a 55gal and was thinking maybe one would make a cool tankmate for my aro. Think they'd get along ok? It's hard to find fish that won't tear up my plants or get eaten. I had a 7" bristlenose disapear so I have to be careful. Most big fish come into the LFS as trade-ins, and not very often. Though maybe a sire would be safe, and cheap enough if he were to get bitten in half...

It's a siren (salamander). It would be kinda like having a fullgrown ropefish in a 55; I'd think that would work out.

Anyway...I'd say the siren could work, I don't think their bite is as bad as something like an amphiuma. Where do you get sirens, just catch them? How thick do they get? I suppose the aro might try to eat it...

Please tell me you didn't have a 3 foot fish in a 55 gal. tank.

yes i did have him alone in a 55 with lots of live plants and places to hide and he was a happy camper for many years...

I have a friend whose family owns a couple of LFS and kids find them and bring them in from time to time. Mine was about as big around as a half dollar or maybe a golfball...
