I was wondering why is my ocsar so damm greedy...I mean he eats, bloodworms (frozen), brime shrimp (frozen), and small pallets in the red bag. I tried watermelon but he didn't like that at all...then all of a suden last night he changed colors on me and he look like he hit a growth spert...does this suppose to happen?

that's just oscars for you, they are huge, filthy, eating machines. they will pretty much eat whatever you put in the tank though i would stay away from fruit, they don't really benefit from it and it mucks up your water. you can try lettuce or thawed peas if you want to try some veggies or something just make sure to keep up on water changes and i would be normal to see an inch a month of growth from him

Oscars appetites.............HUGE.............The color change is normal........Oscars will also lay on the gravel sometimes as if they are sleeping, do not be afraid............Sometimes the OScars will spit their food out(like children) and go a week without eating(rarely), do not be afraid................

My buddy has an O named "junk mouth" because he will literally eat anything. Oscars pig out, sulk and somtimes throw hissy fits over their food....its what makes them O's :headbang2

Then there are times they do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7J73YdxO3k 30 seconds or so in. This guys O is very lucky though, if you go look at his channel. They're truly unique fish for sure. Can't wait to get my own place, to get a big enough tank to house some.
