Help I have a dark green coating of algae on part of my aquarium that won't come off. I actually snapped my algae scrubber trying to get it off.

I had the same problem. My pleco didn't do crap! Use a very durable and strong algae scrubber use the scraper part and if that doesn't work use a razor blade.

I dont know what ur set up is but if your having trobule with green alge use a UV sterolizer. I know most people say they dont do good when removing bacteria from freshwater but once i hooked mine up i never had a problem with green alge. Good luck.

Yes it is glass. Ok I'll probably end up using a razor blade. What if I turn the lights off for a few days there's no live plants or anything.

Might help, but it won't get rid of the stuff that's already on there...How much light does your tank get every day? Is it by a window?

One light has been on for about a week I've been very busy lately with school and work. But no direct sunlight

Well there's your problem...Being busy doesn't mean you can't turn the light on and off. It's been on for a week straight?
Just go get a timer, they're cheap and a lot easier than having to remember to turn your lights on and off! I love my timers.

Whatever you do don't waste your money on those expensive two way magnets. They do not work very well and are expensive. You can't go wrong with a good ole wilkinson sword razor blade.

I have a two way magnet wasn't very expensive and works good on that brown algae not very good on the green kind though.
