So far my Green Arowana has killed 2 prized fish and maimed 3 others. Any ideas on how to eliminate his aggression? So far I have lost 1 4" Azul, today i lost my 4 "Goliath Tiger Fish, and he has also beat the hell out of my Short Body GG,a 3 inch butti, and a 5" Wide bar Dat. He does not eat live fish just likes to kill them. Its hit or miss with him most fish he leaves alone. It seems he has a dislike for the more expensive fish. He leaves the CL and Silver dollars and black bar, and NGT alone. He is only about 7-8" but has been mean since i got him at 4" 2 monts ago. Tank is 180g and the largest fish is the Aro. My options are limited as far as moving fish around because i have a 15" Red snakehead solo in another tank, and i think that my Gars, Butti, and Oscar wouldn't be too happy with any smaller newcomers. I think i see another tank in the near future. I know the risks i run with predatory species but i really didnt think Asians were this aggresive. OK venting done...i think i have learned my lesson, no more new tankmates. Goliath Tiger didnt last 5 mins in the tank before i had to rush him to my over stocked med tank.

Give him a clip round the ear? Every fish is an idividual, looks like you got one that isn't very social.

I got such a fish in my house too. Simplity can't keep any other tank mate with it. but after many trys, finally able to com endies with it for over 1 year. And recently I moved my 2.5 footer arapaima into her tank and it's still fine. But occasionally this aro of mine will flare at the arapaima.:D

Why don't you put in 2-3 more bigger aros that are proven to be not too aggressive? (depending on your budget of course) ... If aros are in a tank together, they will usually focus their aggression on each other. If the little guy tries to get nasty, he'll just get his *** kicked by on of the bigger boys..

Just another 2c.. :D

I agree, fish don't do well in therapy. Agression is behavior, and there is no way to positively reinforce non-aggressive behavior. Negative reinforcement won't work either, as you fish won't respond well to a bit** slap.

Ya I agree as well.. My Gar thought I was diciplining him when i would get my P-bass out of his mouth.. And from then ON he tried to Kill them everytime i turned my head until they were eight inches.. But with an arow as such... this will only get worse from what I've read :) :(
