Green festae?

Ask for Latin / Scientific names...

Beware of 'Common Names'... especially when they play off more common 'Common Names' suggesting a fish is special or rare...

I have seen Festae on this site that have strong green coloration, mostly males. I don't think that they are necessarily a different kind of Festae.

All that I know about festae are 1 they are nasty and 2 a couple of nights ago I was bored and decided to thumb through Axelrods atlas of tropical fish and they had a picture of a green one. I remeber this clearly due to the fact that the second I saw the name the diappointment of not being able to get one set in(not compatible with any of current stock)

That guy actually posted them on this site recently, or at least those are his pictures. The male is nothing out of the ordinary, but the female seems washed out.

look like regular festae to me. just the lighting makes them look green

Part of the biggest appeal of the male Festae for me has been his ability to show various color patterns - turquiose blue/green to maroon to blood red to yellow to orange and barring mixed in from time to time.

Hey guys. This is what I know. These were imported from Columbia and were bought as wild caught. I've raised and bred Festae a few times over the last decade and never had any colors even close to this in the female. The male isn't that far off from "normal" just missing any yellow. I've had these for two years and the female looks exactly like that in real life 100% of the time even after the male beats the crap out of her trying to mate. They are very aggressive, even for Festae, and a huge headache in my fishroom.

I don't know about green festae, but here is my Columbian female festae from the past. She was hyper agressive which got her killed. She was my favorite fish of all time. I have 2 of her daughters now...
