A few of my rocks seem to be getting taken over by the green algae. COvering all mmy nice purple and stuff. Will this kill my choline algae? This si in my mantis tank so it is somewhat difficult to keep a clan up crew. Any suggestions??

test your water and see where all the params are. At this moment, focus on phosphate, nitrate and ammonia. If there is ammonia in the tank, then theres a source feeding nitrite, which will feed nitrate. Phosphates will increase as well, and also the more you feed. Something that will take care of the algae problem is using RO water and 20% water changes once weekly until problem is gone.

Watch your feeding and what not, overfeeding will cause this problem quickly

What are you feeding your two mantis' ?? and how often do you clean??

im assuming it's a smasher mantis.. you could TRY something like a lawnmower blenny.. or an urchin, but they may pick off some of the coralline

get the water parameters under control and the algae will go way, do extra water changes for the next couple of weeks and maybe use a little phosban. Are you running a skimmer?

yeah.. obviously better water parameters would be more proactive than just treating the symptoms (clean up crew)

I got some phophate control and did a couple water changes since I posted. The ammonia was hardly detectable... They are both smashers, and I feed them crabs, shrimp, squid, and tilapia.
To be honest I already see a slight improvement since I typed this thread, and followed some advice. Just the one rock is pretty damn thiick with it. Covering my choline :(
