ps do need a UV light?
Not only do they need uv ligth but also they are one of the herps that will not trive without it.;) By the way welcome to the forum and thats a very nice pickup.:D.Have 2 myself and they are amazing critters. Back to the topic.
Now I dont know what you have avaible there in the Filipines regarding uv lamps but even if you cant find one you shouldnt have any trobble giving your ig the uv he needs. All you have to do is build him a outdoor habitat in wich (if correctly build) your ig will be able to live most of the year because in the Filipines its nice and warm most of the year just like igs like:D But you should also have indoors acomodacions or now when she is still a hachling and when he gets bigger also during bad weader. Of corse Im asuming that you have the space to do that. But even if you live in the midle of a huge city, there´s allways a sunny window that can be used for that. Your ig needs daily direct sun(no glass or plastic in the midle) if she´s expected to develop properly. To avoid her excaping you can use something like a mesh to cover the window or something like a large bird cage. Its realy important that you keep a eye on her and remove her as soon as you detect signs of overheating. Will post more info later;)

what are the signs of overheating?

How about a mini pool? would he like it? im plannin to build one like a semi terrarium?

how about substrates? i want a biotope feel

how about growth rate? so that i can prepare future cage size:confused:

Is it healthy to feed him "Ipomoea aquatica" he seems to like it very well

as of now i feed him Ipomoea aquatica, grated carrots, chopped beans and c hoped bananas:confused:

Sory for being Lazy about this coz this is just impulsly bought:screwy:

You can use cypress mulch peat moss coconut husk .....provide a cool end and hot end and it should be fine temps should range from 75 to 110 degrees, spray daily if needed and if you want to use iguana mix; use mazuri.

Ok now as for uv ligths the best one I can recomend you is Zoomed´s iguana ligth or reptisun flurescent lamps. If you are unable to find thouse tell me what you can get and well see.As for sun expossure if you can get her to have about 2 periods of 20-30 minutes daily of sun ligth(one in the morning and another in the afternoon) that would be great. You must be with her all the time during sun exposure and from time to time check on her body temp. Wach for signs of overheating (sudeen stress or willing to escape, the ig starts breding with her mouth open, her color turns very ligth to absorve less heat)to wich this guys are prone especialy when small and provide both shade and a water container as well as a twig or 2 for her to bask. If overheating happens simply put her in the shade in a cool place, dont ever try to imerce her in water to cool her of.
Now a mini pool is great if it ocupies only a very small part of the habitat botom. A small taperwere is great for now. You must change the water daily. Most igs dont like swiming but is great as toilet and moist sorce.
Varanio´s substrate sugestions are ok, but for now I would relly more on stuff like paper towells or news paper for easy replacement and higene. That is important because many igs come with mites and they will breed prolificaly in a more natural substrate. Keep your ig in there untill you are sure he has no parasites and is 100% healty.
All the stuff regarding heating and housing you have in that page.
As for food you are using a kind of poor diet. Most of it will be made of leafy greens. Other vegetables and fruit are a much smaller part of the diet. By giving priority to stuff like carots and banana you are risking your ig health. Insted use stuff like mustard greens, water cress, chicory greens, green beans, turnip greens ,etc. Again all the info you secking is on that page. Ig pellets if you must use them at all must be a very small part of the diet. I wouldnt risk it as some igs are aparently alergic to weat and can simply die after eating ig pellets(weat is a magor filler in ig pellets). Other very important things to avoid at all costs: animal food(insects ,meat, eggs, etc), spinach, ruibarb, letuce, abacato and lacticins.:D

Oh for gods sake.
Welcome to the classic case of a stupid impulse buy of a 'cute iddy biddy baby iguana' that ends up MBD and either dying or going to a rescue before it hits 3 foot long.

  • You need high levels of UV. You need it very close to the iguana (within 12 inches of your iggy) but make sure it cannot get burnt.
  • warm side should be about (90F-94F) and a cooler area of (75F-84F) USE A STAT!!! MEASURE YOUR TEMPS WITH THEMOMETERS!
  • Humidity levels of at least 75%-100%
  • Supplement your iguana with calcium & VD3 at least twice a week.
  • This animal is going to top off at at least 5-6 foot. You will need to build your own enclosure.
In future I recomend NOT impluse buying. It is very irresponsible, hopefully you will learn from it. Most people know iguanas need UV just by general knowledge so I am very worried about this.

Keep us updated.
