I got a 4 pack of san francisco brand sea weed salad. Is this good for their digestion / diet ? Malawi cichlids auratus lab socolofi. I keep getting different food and it seems none of them have enough fiber or vegetables. Will this once a day do the trick? I also feed african cichlid attack and emerald entree

Thanks guys

Cmon guys TTT

I think it would be good as a "once in a while" treat, but not a staple. I have fed mine it before, maybe once every two weeks but it was a bit messy. Their staple diet remains Spirulina flakes and New Life Spectrum 1mm pellets and they love them both & are nice n' healthy.

Its good if they eat it, mine used to like it alot. First time they didnt know what it was, by the third time they would eat it out of my hand, thats fun too . Found it cheaper to pick up some sushi wraps at grocery store in international aisle, its made from pure seaweed and usually has no additives, dried sheets just like you can buy for fish food but much much cheaper and a whole lot more for your $$. I never used a whole sheet of either kind or it can clog the filters, just break off a 1 inch wide by about 3 inch long section. They make suction cups that have a clip on it for feeding the stuff, can buy at any fish store. Alot of people also feed frozen peas, lettuce, cabbage and just about any other veggie. If its too hard for them you can put it in boiling water for a few minutes and blanch it, that will soften it. Might need to play around to see how many minutes for each veggie work best etc... Some fruits too wont hurt. Remove any uneaten after about 15 minutes so it wont foul the tank.

LOL!!! i know what you're thinking, seaweed, that is what i feed to african cichlid's, very healthy and it brings out the true colors.

For Malawi Mbuna those any vegetable matter would be fine for them. Most mbuna are vegetarians or omnivores, but often times you see them picking at algae in the wild. Fierce eaters most of the time, but some times they can be timid at a change.
