I was visiting Dubios, Pennsylvania over the weekend and of course I wanted to check out the only LFS in the vicinity.

Besides poorly cleaned and filtered tanks, I found this, a Green Moray Eel that had over grown his tank by three or four fold.

The owner said they have had the eel for 13 years and that "he over grew his tank a long time ago, but he isn't getting a new one".

Makes me want to buy a 300+ tank just to "save" him from his owner. He was going for $200, but of course the setup alone would be far higher than that.

LFS owner != responsible.

Here is a link about the store: http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3720556848/pet-place-du-bois

If the owner caves in and buys the eel a bigger tank that means that the eel is in charge and he decides what is going on. Even though the eel is being so dramatic, the owner needs to stand his ground!

But in all seriousness, that sucks. I understand not giving up 10 tanks for room for a massive tank for one fish, but if he really does not have the necessary resources he should lower the price a little rather than just hoard the fish.

Heres some pics of my 5ft green...

That poor eel has been fed wrong and kept in to small of a tank. I would really love to beat the **** out of this person.

That would be really cool of you to give this guy a great home. They can live a good 30 years. He is an lfs owner and knew the responsibility of this animal when bringing it in the store.

on a side note hes feeding it goldfish which is also bad, shortens lifespand due to "fatty liver disease" as goldfish are to high in fat for SW predators to eat on a regular basis.

Suffice to say I'm discusted, if hes had it for 13 years he should be willing to give it away, considering clearly no one is going to pay for it.

On another side note i thought you were selling your morray Canuck?

If you are concerned about any aspect of the fish store you visited, then why not post a review on the link you provided?

Ah long story. Dad freaked out about tank because i have not made a payment in 2 months so he was going to kick me out for not paying if i didn't get the eel out. More less told him to stick it, and bought some sharks. Now planning a 3k lagoon and then i can create the "family" tank when "I" want to.
