I recently lost two severums to a bout of ick followed by fungus, and currently have one remaining. It is an orange-shoulder severum, with some prominent black stripes and a bright orange belly. What would be a better pair for him/her...a green severum or a gold? I've had green severums before and they are pretty, but the pictures I've seen of golds are amazing. I'm not really looking to breed them (but if it happens, it happens), just more for the look of the tank.

i know a lot of people consider rotkeils and green/golds to be different species and consider their fry to be hybrids. i have a female rotkeil that spawns frequently with my male gold severum.

Do you ever have any problems with breeding them? Or picking on each other?

personal taste entirely...

I do find your descriptions of your remaining sev somewhat usual - could you post some pictures?

Here's some pictures. My severum is kind of shy and didn't like the camera, so sorry about that.

Thanks for the pics and that's an interesting fish - the vertical bars seem more prominent above the lateral line...the bars on rotkeils are usually much more prominent below the lateral line (except for the last bar)....any chance of some pictures from other angles?

Really getting off the topic - if you don't want to breed them you can mix whatever color you like...

I actually don't have any angels....but he's got the rounded body like severums. I don't know what else he could be if he's not a severum. My other severums I had before they died were greens, and they looked exactly the same when they were that size, just different colors. Is it possible that he's an hybrid but just ended up with mostly severum qualities?
