2 days ago I purchased a new 55gallon tank along with a beuatiful 2-3 inch green phantom pleco (wild cought) and brought her home happy as can be.. i set up my 55 galong the way i wanted it and added water and let it filter out for about 12 hours with my aeration and everything going and kept the green phantom in a 30 gallon tank that i also had my 4-5 inch EBJD in.. needless to say i wasnt in my room for a couple hours and when i did come back in i cought my dempsey nippin at the green phantoms fins but i think i cought her as soon as she started cause there was BARELY any damage on the fins at all most of wich is very unoticable at a glance.. needless to say i put the green phantom in the new 55 gallon by herself and thought that was the end of that for now.. well i came home from work earlier and seen that the green phantom has developed a few white spots on her body.. 2-3 of which are on her head/face and are very very small.. the other 2 are located on her back very close to her dorsal fin and are maybe half the size of a penny.. needless to say i havent got her to eat yet and these spot are very concerning to me... if anybody could have any ideas of what it could be or how to possibly fix it plese let me know before it gets to bad... and i also have no idea how to upload pictures on her or else i would attach a photo of the spots :( anyways like i said plese help me out i am broke enough as it is without having to go buy another one at 60$ a pop.... thank you ahead of time for any responses

For starters, the 55gal you put your pleco in wasn't cycled which is going to stress out your new fish. How long was the 30gal set up. You could possibly use some of the filter media from it if it was fully cycled to speed up the process. The white spots kind of sound like Ick, but without pics it is hard to tell. You will also need to be doing some water changes to combat the ammonia/nitrate spike. If you have a water test kit, post your parameters as well (Ph, Ammonia, Nitrite, & Nitrate). If you have any other questions, just ask. MFK is a great resource with a lot of info!!

Could be bacterial, fungal, or trauma. Without pics it's going to be tough to say (and even with pics it may be difficult). To add pictures you have saved to your computer, click on the "insert image" button that's just above the text box you type in to add a new post. A window will pop up and you click on "select files" at the bottom of that box. Find the picture to upload and click upload.

thanks fellas but i ended up getting it under control.. yea i had the 30 gallon cycled and set up for a nice while and i did throw the filter i had on the 30 to the 55 along with the filter i have on my 55 but shes happy as ever now it took a couple days but the spots and problems went right away without any medication or anything of the sort and shes cruisin around her own 55 gallon tank (for now) lol

Good to hear that your green phantom is doing great. I ve got three greens and one blue phantom in a 100g and when feeding time comes all I can see is them darting to food like no tomorrow. They are stunning plecos!
