I have an l200 green phantom pleco. It's always been very nocturnal and I rarely ever saw it. All it did was hide in it's cave and eat at night. Today after a water change though it's been hyper: swimming all over the place, chasing other fish, and eating like crazy. I'd this normal behavior or is something wrong?

Well......it is not normal. There could be a few reasons. One, many fish perk up after a water change. Second, it could have shocked his system.. Third, sometimes plecos/fish get more active just before they die.

Let's hope it's the first one.

It's been a few days and my pleco is acting more normal now. It swims around more than it used to still, but mostly in the evening. Still eating well.

water change can sometime make them feel like flooding and large rain especially when the new water is slightly cooler, they usually become more active. So as long as you don't have chlorine/chloramine spike from your tap water, you should be good.
