Green Phantom Questions.............

Hi,

Just got myself a 2.5" Green Phantom and have a few questions:

The spots markings on this one only goes about half way, do these get more spots as they grow older?

Whats there growth rate?

And one more quesion is do they poo alot??!!

I don't know much about green phantoms, but I can tell you that all the ones I have seen do only have spots halfway down their body... we shall have to wait for an owner to clear this up though

Some are more spotted than others, however most are only spotted halfway. No more spots will form as it grows. Growthrate varies depending on diet, water quality, species (there are actually 2 species sold under the common name of "green Phantom") ect...

Baryancistrus demantoides- often sold as the "hi-fin" variety. however it stays a little smaller....5.9" SL according to PC
Hemiancistrus subviridis- gets a little bigger, 7.5" (PC again) and though it lacks the "hi-fin" they tend to have better coloring and more spots (IME).

Both grow pretty slow in my experience. mine grew from 3" to 4.5" in 7-8 months. I had 2 bary's and 3 hemi's

As far as the poop goes, Again it really depends on how much you feed them. But they poop a decent amount. Less then any panaques or any of the large growing commons or sailfins.

I have had two for the past 2 year and they have only grown about. 1 and a half inches. They are very slow growers. I feed them cucumber sweat pot. And squash for meat I feed them krill. I can say they are not too heavy on the poo. And a very lively pleco than most.
