Why would he do that?? Like all other Central American cichlids, Petenia splendida is a bi-parental species. Both parents are involved in the care of the spawn (fanning and cleaning eggs, corralling fry, ect).
Once you remove them from the care of the parents, it wouldn't be a good idea to re-introduce the young fish back to their parents tank. The parents would have already lost their parental instincts and think of them as food.
Just keep them with their parents until they are around an inch or so (then you can start to sell them) and they should be ok.
