I found a bunch of green spotted puffers at my lfs, and i wanted to pick 1 up. they are about 1 1/2"-2" and i wanted to pick one up. what is the minimum tank size and what is there diet? that is what im wondering.

i did! It was very very nice i learned a lot thanks... i always feel so bad because my walmart sells GSP's and i always thought i could go save them in a 30g..

It takes years for them to out grow a 30g tank. i have 2 and they are about maybe 2'' long now and have even been moved to salt water for the last 6months because i want them to see that magical 6'' mark. Several people have had them at 6'' but most buy them big. No one really has documented there growth rate but for mine it has been maybe 1/4'' a year. And they are eating shrimp,blood worms, mysis shrimp,snails, so diet is not the problem.
Or stunted? how big is the tank? What SG? Feeding, SG, tank size, & water parameters, all affect fish size.
My gsp has been in a 30 cubed with clean water and lots of food for 4 years and is still only 2". He's in full salt too.
